Snaffle Bit seminars with Kai Wienrich

Western bits: Experience tradition, understand their effect

Seminar 1: The traditional BRIDLESYSTEM then and now. “From the hackamore to the bridle bit”

At the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries, the California Bridle Horse was considered the epitome of a working horse that could perform all aspects of ranch work with legendary elegance and the finest aids. Kay Wienrich has spent his entire riding career studying the “hackamore and bridle system,” not only in theory but above all in practice. In this seminar, he will take you into the world of vaqueros and shed some light on a world that seems more like a fairy tale to us today, introducing you to this system in an entertaining way using replicas of historical hackamores and bridle bits.

When? Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Seminar 2: Use of “modern” Western bits in today's competitive and recreational sports, with consideration of the various modes of action

As a rider who has trained Western horses for over 50 years, especially reining and cow horses, Kay Wienrich has a profound knowledge of the wide range of Western bits. Western competitive riding is growing worldwide and is also influencing recreational riding. For many riders, choosing and using the “right bit” is often an overwhelming task. In this short seminar, Kay Wienrich explains the effects of different bits and gives you a brief guide on what to look for when choosing the next bit for your horse.

When? Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Participation in each seminar costs €20—a worthwhile investment in your riding knowledge!
