Kay Wienrich dominates Equispa Ranch Horse Trail Go round

"AMERICANA optimally solved under Corona conditions!"

The preliminary round of the Equispa Ranch Horse Trail was won by Kay Wienrich with his 8-year-old Next Smooth Boon (Smooth As A Cat x Next Big Blast). The former coach of the German national reining team and longtime president of NRHA Germany confidently steered the Red Roan mare through the course and received a 148.5 for his performance.

"I bought the mare for myself in the U.S. in 2019," Kay Wienrich said. "I show her in cow horse, but I also do roping with her and go cross-country a lot with her. So it made sense to try Ranch Horse Trail with her just for fun, especially since she is very calm and has a great mind. Nevertheless, everything is different in the arena than at home, so you never know how they react - for example, at the gate with the flags. But Next Smooth Boon was right there with me and did her thing well."

Of the trail course, Kay said, "It was fair and just right in terms of difficulty for the go round. You did have to ride very precisely. My thanks to Sandra Quade and the team for putting on this great event. The AMERICANA is optimally solved under these Corona conditions!"

Second in the go round was Lynn Troppenz, who scored a 145.5 with Kathrin Kühnle's Dun It Primo Style (Hollywood Dun It x Peggy Style Primo). The already 19-year-old stallion, who has won over $27,000 in the reining arena, demonstrated his versatility here. Karina Weber and Pocos Glowing Rose followed on third place scoring a 142.5.
