AMERICANA Bronze Trophy Open Go round: Top Score für Nico Sicuro & Colonels Dancing Gun: 221,5
Grischa Ludwig with three horses in the final
What an extraordinary go round of the AMERICANA NRHA Bronze Trophy Open! 35 high class horses and riders were at the start. The Top 17 plus Ties made it to the finals, for which at least a 217 had to be achieved. Nico Sicuro took the lead early on with Colonels Dancing Gun (Gunner x Dance Little Spook). The 7-year-old double registered stallion was 2018 NRHA European Futurity L4 Open Champion, Austrian Futurity 4 Yrs Old L4 Open Co-Champion and NRHA Breeders Futurity 3 Yrs Old L4 Open Champion and 2019 NRBC Open Classic Challenge Co-Reserve Champion with Gennaro Lendi in the saddle. Nico Sicuro scored a 221.5 with the chestnut, who has already won nearly $63,000.
"Everything just fell into place today," said Nico Sicuro, who has already won the NRHA European Derby Open L4 this year with Colonels Dancing Gun . "The stallion was simply ready and with be all the time. I'm incredibly proud of him and can't thank owners Pietro and Elena Marseglia of Quarter Dream SRL enough for their trust." In addition, Nico Sicuro has a second horse in the final, Gunna Sparkle.
Three riders followed in second place just half a point apart (221): Two Million Dollar Rider Bernard Fonck with Spook Sunburst (Great Sunburst x All About Spook) for 7 Heaven Reining Horses, Dominik Reminder with Whiz Wild West (by Spark N Whiz) owned by Martin Bachmann and Grischa Ludwig abard Spooks Of Genius (Spooks Gotta Whiz x A Spark Of Genius) owned by Margot Van Doorne.
Bernard Fonck was already 2018 NRHA Breeders Futurity L4 Open Champion with the 6-year-old gelding bred by Manuel Bonzano. "This horse is an incredible athlete," Bernard Fonck said. "He reminds me a lot of his sire Great Sun Burst, who won so much for me." Bernard also rode GP A Spook In Town to the finals.
Dominik Reminder has had the 8-year-old Whiz Wild West in training since the European Derby. Bred by Mattia Camisi, the gelding was IRHA Futurity L4 and L3 Open Champion, NRHA European Futurity L3 Open Champion and Belgium Futurity Champion under Guglielmo Fontana. "The gelding is just a hell of a horse," said Dominik Reminder. "In the go round he was just great and gave everything. This go round was really tough. Everyone is there, and they brought their best horses." Dominik Reminder has a second horse in the final with Call Me Mr Voodoo ( Shiners Voodoo Dr x ARC Sassy Snapper).
Grischa Ludwig managed to ride three horses to the finals. In addition to the 5-year-old Dun stallion Spooks Of Genius, who was bred by Carlo Orsi in the U.S. and was 2019 IRHA Futurity L3 Open Champion and third at the 2020 NRHA Breeders Futurity, these are Coeurs Little Tyke (Coeur D Wright Stuff x Sweet Remychexs) owned by Hans Georg Holzwarth and West Coast Trash (Gunnatrashya x Miss Cody Whiz It) owned by Margot Van Doorne. "That was probably the toughest go round I've ever seen at AMERICANA," said Grischa Ludwig. "Spooks Of Genius was great as well as my other two horses. I'm now looking forward to the finals, which will definitely be one of the strongest we've ever had here in Augsburg."
The other finalists are NRHA Million Dollar Rider Ann Fonck with Gunners Specialolena and Shines Like Spook, Lukasz Czechowicz with CSG Shinethingun, NRHA Million Dollar Rudi Kronsteiner with AB Peppy Diamond, NRHA Million Dollar Rider Cira Baeck with Phantom Face as well as Nightcrawler, Markus Gebert with Cash N No Chex, NRHA Million Dollar Rider Gennaro Lendi with Hollywood Dr and Manuel Cortesi with PC Sliderina For Me.
